Bargaining

Emma wanted some juice, so I gave her a little bit in the bottom of her cup since it wasn't a sippy cup and I didn't want it to spill. When I gave it to her, I told her she only got one cup of juice and then water after. I got a phone call right then, so I walked off. She sat on the floor, fuming, refusing to drink her juice, the whole time I was on the phone. It wasn't more than a few minutes, and then I asked her what was wrong. Apparently she thought she had been cheated. If she was only going to get one cup of juice, she wanted more juice in there! She is too smart sometimes.

Pocahontas

It has been weeks and weeks since Emma has watched Pocahontas, but this morning she said, out of the blue, "Mom, Pocahontas doesn't have shoes. She have a necklace, but it broke. Her Daddy broke it. And he died. Someone kill him." She was so devastated that someone died, I think that is why she remembered that scene so clearly. Death is hard for her to process. Part of me wanted to throw my arms around her and tell her it was all made up, that people never actually die. I wish I could just keep her safe from things that are sad or hurtful.

Teenager

I have often said that I don't have to imagine what my girls will be like as teenagers, they are toddlers, which are pretty much the same thing! They aren't too bad, just testing boundaries and trying to see what they can get away with. And they are EMOTIONAL. Not everyday or every second, but we definitely have our moments when I don't think they even know why they are crying. Every once in a while, Emma will sleep in until 9:30 or 10. She has always been a really heavy sleeper, but I think it is hilarious that she already sleeps like a teenager, too. Especially funny since Maddie thinks she is supposed to rise when the sun does. :) Emma is the last one awake almost every single day.

"Goodbye! I love you... to the moon and back! See you tomorrow!"
